Obituary of Georgina Penney (CARD OF THANKS)

The Penney family would like to say thank you to everyone who supported our family during this difficult time through visitation, sympathy cards, food and condolences on website page. It was much appreciated.  Special thanks to Rev. Jocelyn Cook for her visit to mom in the Palliative Care Unit, her beautiful service and ministry to the family.  Thanks to the Palliative Care Unit for the care Mom received - it was wonderful.  Thanks as well to the staff at Mountain View House in Meadows for looking  Mom these last 10 years.  Lastly, thanks to the staff at Fillatre’s for their professional, helpful and courteous service.

Georgina Penney

September 12, 1924 – March 4, 2024

On March 4, 2024 Georgie passed away peacefully at the Western Palliative Care Unit in her 100^th year.

She is survived by her sisters: Myrtle McCarthy and Norma French (Pete); her children: Harry Roger (Chris), Julia Crocker (Andy), Elaine Kendell (Ivan), John (Rosalind) and Monty; grandchildren: Anthony, Stephen, Krista Penney, Andrew, Dana Crocker, Penny Kendell, Michael, Adam Penney, Jarrett, Kayla and Courtney Penney; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Georgie was predeceased by her infant daughter Patricia, her parents Norman and Violet Anthony, sisters Emmaline Chartrand (Art), Leona Locke (Roy), Edgar Anthony (Edna), Leslie Anthony (Gertrude), her youngest brother Howard Anthony, her daughter-in-law Carla Penney and brother-in-law Reg McCarthy.

Special thanks to the Palliative Care doctors and nurses, and extra special thanks to the staff (her girls) and her friends at the Mountain View House, Meadows.

Cremation has taken place, visitation will be held on Thursday, March 7 from the hours of 7-9 p.m. from Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue. The funerals service will be held on Friday, March 8 at 11:00 a.m. from Fillatre’s Funeral Chapel, St. Mark’s Avenue with Rev. Jocelyn Cook officiating. Interment to take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, you may give a donation to the charity of one’s choice.
