It is with great sadness that the family of the late Lillian Sarah Matthews announce her passing on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at the Corner Brook Long Term Care Facility at the age of 82 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children: Herman (Yvonne) Matthews, Rendell (Karen) Matthews, Tony (Nancy) Matthews, Brian (Lorraine) Matthews and Katie (Eric) Park; grandchildren: Peter, Alexandra, Colin, Meghan, Steve, Heather, Blair, Kayla, Mark and Lewis; great-grandchildren: Jacey, Jayla, Jaden, Mason, Marissa, Nicholas, Taylor and Brody; brothers and sisters: Dave (Cora) George, Emma (Eric) Lovell, Foster (Pauline) George, Ray (Millie) George and Gloria (Benny) Wells; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, especially member of the Gospel Hall. She was predeceased by her husband James Matthews, children Harold and Johnny Matthews, granddaughter Kimberly Matthews, sisters Mildred Park and Alfreda Park, brother Ronald George, parents Silas and Sarah George. A special thank you to staff at the Corner Brook Long Term Care Facility, Palliative Care doctors and family doctor Guirguis. Friends may visit The Epiphany Anglican Church in McIvers beginning Thursday 7:00 p.m. from where the funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 15 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Malcolm Palmer officiating. Interment to follow at the church cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Diabetic Association. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue, Corner Brook. The family guest book may be signed or a memorial donation may be made through our website www.fillatre.ca.

Those special memories of you will always bring a smile. If only we could have you back for just a little while. My heart is a little heavy today as I received a call from mom of Aunt Lil passing. I have many fond memories of Aunt Lil especially the ball games in McIvers where you did not want her on your case, She was McIvers number one fan and she sure let you know it. So sorry to hear of aunt lills passing & truly sorry I cant be there at this difficult time as I am in Labrador for another week. I will cherish the memories of staying at aunt lills when I was a teenager. Not much one can do to ease the pain.
