It was always a pleasure to be in the company of Harry and Joan Sparkes. They were a gracious couple, so easy to spend time with. And it was Harry was who taught us to put the oven mitts over the standing rib roast after you had taken it out of the oven and wrapped it in foil. I’m sure his children and grand daughter are proud to have grown up with a father and grandfather like Harry.

We felt so much the pain you all have felt during your father's last few days. We share your comfort that he is now at peace but know, too, that this wonderful father and grandfather will be so missed. That we were able to know him; his warm welcomes, his gentle manner and quiet humour is something we will always remember about your Dad.
