It is with great sadness that the family of the late George O’Keefe announce his passing on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at the Health Science Centre in St. John’s at the age of 75 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories; children: Valerie (Philip) Hoskins, St. Albans, Sandra (Ivan) Burt, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Jack Cornick (Iris), Alberta, Alma (Cameron) House, Port Saunders, Claude (Tina) Cornick, Holyrood, Gerard (Gael), Halifax, Floyd (Jeanette) and Stanley (Kim), Port au Choix; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers Ralph (Bessie) O’Keefe, Donald (Joyce) O’Keefe, Gregory (Patricia) O’Keefe, and David (Sharon) O’Keefe, Port au Choix; sisters: Phyllis (Samuel) Spence, Joyce (Jim) Rose, Port Au Choix, and Dinah (Loman) Rumbolt, Ontario; and a large circle of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Laura and son Ronald, parents Ralph and Alma O’Keefe and brother, Barry. The family will be receiving friends at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Port au Choix on Saturday and Sunday from the hours of 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Monday, April 16th at 11:00 A.M. from St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church, with Father Lee Lainey officiating. Interment to follow at the Interfaith Cemetery, Sandy Cove. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation Newfoundland and Labrador or to Ingornachoix Public Library, P.O. Box 59, Port Saunders, NL, A0K 4H0. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Port au Choix. The family guest book may be signed or a memorial donation may be made through our website www.fillatre.ca.

I got to know George many years ago and spent many nights sleeping at his house with one of his daughters Alma as well my friend.
